WSA Chairman Peter A. Bruck states: “The WSA Winners combine two major focus points – the commitment on the UN SDGs and solving societal issues with smart content applications. Handelsblatt and McKinsey award innovative thinkers with The Spark – The German Digital Prize and bring them together with business leaders.

BMWi

September 2020:

Hawa Dawa has been recognised with the “Digital Start-up of the Year 2020”  award at the IFA in Berlin. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) awards this prize annually to promising young digital companies from the BMWi start-up initiatives, which have already established themselves on the market. The award recognises start-ups who have implemented their founding ideas particularly successfully in a short time and are pursuing promising concepts for further growth.

ESA Startup Competition

July 2020

Hawa Dawa among the four winners of the ESA Sartup Competition. The four winning startups were selected from a total of 101 applicants. Over a period of two months they were judged on the team, business model, societal impact of the project and usefulness, and quality of the proposal. This process involved Member State Business Incubation Centres, ESA scientific, business and legal experts, and ESA’s Inspector General. All 22 Member State delegates voted unanimously on the final winners.

The Europas: 2020 Shortlist

June 2020:

Hawa Dawa has made it to the Short List of The Europas 2020 award. Hawa Dawa is ranked among the best four startups in the category “Hottest ClimateTech/ Green /CleanTech Startup”.

The Europas is – and has been for the last 10 years – an annual event, now curated by The Pathfounder. The Europas was originally formed in 2009 by Techcrunch editor-at-large Mike Butcher to recognize and celebrate the innovation emerging from Europe’s burgeoning tech startup scene. Whilst Europe has had a long, proud tradition in scientific and technological invention, we had much to learn from Silicon Valley’s lead in creating and executing on world-changing tech companies. The Europas was created to celebrate the successes of Europe’s early tech startups.

ESA Start-up Competition

June 2020:

Hawa Dawa has been selected for the TOP 10 final round of the ESA Startup Competition.
Collaboration between start-ups and the European Space Agency (ESA) can fast-track the development and introduction of breakthrough space technologies. That’s why ESA called for European start-ups to come forward and propose their game-changing space solutions to benefit from the know-how and support of ESA in their development.
